I lived there fow one and a half month in 1998. I'm from brazil. it was a cheap hostel, but worked for me. used to share the rooms i stayed at with people from many places: italy, australia, france, south africa. they had some troubles with some ilegal drug trafic made at the hostel, and someone i knew went to jail because of it. anyway, the memories i have of the place are fine. i had fun there

Go to East Ham District Line Station and you can still see where this loop terminated on the north side of the eastbound platform. I've used the station since the early sixties and I don't remember it not being filled in but it is easily discernible.I guess it was filled in within a few years of closure in 1958.

I used to go to school in Stonebridge; this is almost 40 years ago. From wha I can tell the neighborhood hasn't changed much. I had several friends that used to live over there. I now live in NYC, but I've never forgotten Stonebridge/Craven Park.

yep I was born there in the first floor corner flat facing the stairs. so was my father.
my mother was born around 3 doors down. and my grandmother born on the top floor 4 doors in from the centre stair case to the left. pleased the building hasn't been torn down. a lot of family history tied up in it.

Kirk & Kirk of Upper Richmond Road Putney (Ernest Marples the minister of transport was the major shareholder). Their builders yard is now a gated community beside the Arab Boy pub, the site was so big that they needed a lorry onsite to move equipment from one part of the site to another part, many times I was allocated as a driver to the site, that was 1965/66, they had a huge canteen onsite for the workers, great food and cheap to, most of the time I slept in the cab of my 7 ton Bedford TK except when Sammy the fitter woke me up to move say a four wheel compressor to another location or a load of steel girders, there may have been other construction companies involved on the site as it was huge, covered a very large area. Tony West.
