  • The Spencer Arms public house., Lisa Bridges (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
Used to be a real dodgy spit and sawdust pub in the 90s. Locals ocasionally had to dodge bullets in this place! How times have changed - half decent food now and nice decor, although miss the all day breakfast!! Not bad spot for a summer drink and pub lunch.
  • The Star and Garter, James Brown (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
Recently refurbished. Haven't been in yet but looks a thousand times better than the horrible dated 90s Bar M thing. Glad that this place is back to it's traditional name as well. Putney wasn't the same without the 'The Star'.
  • The Tower of London, WikiMapper wrote 17 years ago:
They ARE called the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom as they belong to the monarchy of the United Kingdom. Scotland also has a seperate set of Crown Jewels: the Honours of Scotland which are indeed the oldest in the world.

  • The former Royal Herbert hospital, Shooters hill. (now the Royal Herbert Pavilions), mbddp Dennis Phillips (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
The buildings shewn as the Brook Hospital are in fact those of the Royal Herbert Hospital (12 Company RAMC). The hospital stood next to the Brook Hospital and I served there in the RAMC on F2 Pavilion Ward (Orthopaedics) prior to my Singapore Posting in 1950.
  • Myddelton Square, MisterPig (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
Myddelton Square was actually built in the 1820s. The New River, which was a product of the seventeenth century, had Sir Hugh Myddelton (rather than the Myddelton family) in charge of its construction.
