A real shocker of a building. Overpowering, ugly and poorly-designed. When the old Army & Navy department store was taken down, we had expected better.

I've been renting here for a little while - this place is great if you work in the city. Its 10 min door to door for me to Liverpool St. The apartments are also pretty good and modern. As for the area, its not great but its a lot better than what I thought it would be. Its even got some nice cafes - ultimately, you can get anywhere pretty quickly from Hackney. Also found it completely safe, this building is mostly working professionals and even walking around my gf or I have never been bothered or felt unsafe. I felt more nervous in the west end. For the price, its great value that you can't beat anywhere near central london.

  • Kings Cross railway station - suburban platforms, WikiMapper wrote 17 years ago:
Visitors might notice the 'Platform 9 3/4' sign plus part of a trolley attached to the wall on the entrance to the annex. This is to acknowledge the reference in Harry Potter where the Hogwarts Express departed on Platform 9 3/4, which is accessible by penetrating a metal barrier (in the book) or a brick wall (in the film). In fact, at King's Cross, these two platforms are in a separate area (this one) from the main platforms for express services. And that's not all. Platforms 9 and 10 are separated by railway tracks. J. K. Rowling said that she was thinking of Euston railway station when she chose the platform. Infact, King's Cross in the correct terminal for trains to the Scottish Highlands (where Hogwarts is fictionally situated), and that's not all. At Euston, Platforms 9 and 10 are seperated by railway tracks. It's the same at Paddington, St Pancras and Liverpool Street, where theoretically trains can go to Scotland via the railway network but simply don't. Waterloo, Victoria and London Bridge have Platforms 9 and 10 sharing a platform, but they all face the wrong direction.
