One more gate, Broadgate, not sure whether it was part of those all gates.
Also, Moor Gate (now spelt as Moorgate) was actually a postern, not a gate.

Well, less a nature reserve, than a graveyard that got away. From plague burials to 1949 deaths the site has been used since at least Roman times. I would guess that it became a "nature reserve" because the funds were no longer there to maintain it. When walking through it it is clear that some people are making an effort to find their ancestors and clear out the brush about their grave. A great place to be on a halloween night........Boo!

The Isle of Dogs declared independence from the United Kingdom for a short period in 1970, blocking off the two roads leading into the area and turning it into what was effectively its own state! The campaign was an attempt to highlight the isolated nature of the area, and the lack of concern the authorities were showing towards alleviating the associated problems. The man at the centre of it all was Labour councillor Ted Johns who came to be portrayed as the state's 'president', and would later go on to launch a Thames-side boat invasion of GLC County Hall.

Anyone notice how little of it is in the south? I am not blaming the Person who created this, however, this is a simple point in the fact that most of London is located to the north, and little of it's commerce, shops, and attractions are located in the south. Sure, there is the south bank, and Maritime Greenwich, but compared to how big the Northern City center is, south London is overshadowed.
