  • Bucklersbury House, Matt (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
You have described 1 Poultry, which is immediately north of here. Bucklersbury is a large slab-sided 1960's construction which is about to be demolished to make way for Walbrook Square. It has a few shops, and a Thai restaurant, in the base but the Gap etc. are in 1 Poultry to the north.

Long-time home of law firm Lovells. Notoriously ugly (the building, not Lovells).
  • One New Change, Matt (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
This building, now demolished, did not survive the WWII bombings. It was built in the 1950's, a contemporary of other similarly styled developments such as Barrington House on Gresham Street.
  • Austral House, Matt (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
Replaces one of the more attractive of the 1960's London Wall building, which was occupied for many years by elite law firm Slaughter & May.
  • St Alphage House, Matt (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
This is St. ALphage House, one of the three surviving 1960's London Wall towers.
  • Bastion House, Matt (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
Originally there were six parallel-aligned tower blocks, identical in size, along London Wall. Bastion was the westernmost; the others (from West to East) were Lee House (north side of London Wall, demolished to make way for Alban Gate), Royex House (S. side, at the top of Wood Street - demolished very recently), St. Alphage House (N. side, still standing), City Place House (south side, still standing with distinctive blue reclad) and Moor House (recently demolished to make way for new building of the same name).
