This building is used for storage but is still known as "The Old Aircraft Hangar". The strip of land to the south-west of it looks rather like a runway and when you are on the ground there, it does have a feel of being an old air base. Anyone know more ?

No 51 Lanercost Rd was destroyed after a Doodlebug hit it in 1944. The family sleeping in an air raid shelter in the back garden were killed. Lambeth initially erected prefab housing on the site, later replacing them with flats. See: http://www.bbc.co.uk/ww2peopleswar/stories/04/a3501604.shtml

This was the place where Clarks College Wood Green, when I attended there from 1947-50, used as their sports ground and when we were not playing sport we had some good times catching Sticklebacks and tadpoles in the pond.
